The Marpole Business Association is very pleased to present the ninth annual Chinese Lion Dance Tour of Marpole. This event will be held in celebration of the Chinese New Year of the Rooster on Thursday, February 2, 2017, beginning at 11:00 AM on Granville Street between 63rd & 71st Avenues.
Merchants are encouraged to participate in this exciting cultural event by contacting the Marpole BIA at 604-418-8232 to register and reserve their spot.
The Lion will follow a winding route along Granville St. from north to south, stopping to perform its blessing ritual at participating merchants.
Participating merchants are required to hang $20 in a lucky red envelope (which the Marpole BIA will provide) at the outside entrance to their store or business premise. (Merchants may choose to hold the envelope for the Lion.) Merchants are also encouraged to hang Chinese lettuce as an offering for the Lion.
(If you are interested in an interior blessing, there is an additional $20 fee, and you must preregister this additional blessing at the time of booking.)
The Chinese Lion Tour will be a thrilling display of dance and music, ringing in New Year blessings and good luck for everyone in the Marpole community!
